SARAH M. KEENAN
Sarah M. Keenan – known to everyone as Sally – received her undergraduate degree from Boston College with a major in history (A.B. magna cum laude, 1981) and her law degree from Hofstra University Law School (J.D., 1984). Ms. Keenan was Staff Member and Articles Editor for the Hofstra Law Review and author of Comment, Globe Newspaper Co. v. Superior Court.
Ms. Keenan had the benefit of years of tutelage under the Honorable Dorothy Eisenberg, former head of the Bankruptcy Division of Shaw, Licitra, Bohner, Esernio & Schwartz, P.C. in Garden City, New York, before Judge Eisenberg’s appointment to the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York. Ms. Keenan was a partner in that firm for 12 years before joining Mr. Sferrazza in 2001 to form Sferrazza & Keenan, PLLC.
Ms. Keenan is admitted to practice in New York State, the Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
Ms. Keenan’s practice focuses on all aspects of bankruptcy proceedings, debt workouts and restructuring, debtor’s rights, creditor’s rights, adversary proceedings, residential foreclosure defense and mortgage modifications. She has successfully counseled many individuals through Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings and mortgage modifications, and companies through small business Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
JOSEPH SFERRAZZA
Joseph Sferrazza received his undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College with a major in accounting (B.A., 1982) and his law degree from St. John’s University (J.D., 1985). He is admitted to practice in New York State, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
After eleven years of practicing with firms located in New York City and Long Island, Mr. Sferrazza established his own practice in February 1996 in Melville, New York. In 2001, Sally Keenan joined the firm and they established Sferrazza & Keenan, PLLC.
Mr. Sferrazza concentrates in the representation of small and medium size businesses across a wide variety of issues, contracts, shareholder and operating agreements, the buying and selling of businesses, and commercial real estate transactions and leasing. He has successfully represented many business and individual clients in lawsuits in the areas of commercial (business) litigation, contract litigation, and general civil litigation.
Mr. Sferrazza’s real estate practice has included the representation of a substantial number of individuals over many years in the buying and selling of homes - personal residences, second homes, and investment properties.
